Airborne transmission of pathogen-laden expiratory droplets in open outdoor space

چکیده
Virus-laden droplets dispersion may induce transmissions of respiratory infectious diseases. Existing research mainly focuses on indoor droplet dispersion, but the mechanism its and exposure in outdoor environment is unclear. By conducting CFD simulations, this paper investigates evaporation transport solid-liquid an open environment. Droplet initial sizes (dp = 10 μm, 50 100 μm), background relative humidity (RH 35%, 95%), wind speed (Uref 3 m/s, 0.2 m/s) social distances between two people (D 0.5 m, 1 1.5 5 m) are investigated. Results show that thermal body plume destroyed when m/s (Froude number Fr ~ 10). The inhalation fraction (IF) susceptible person decreases exponentially distance (D) increases from m to m. exponential decay rate (b) ranges 0.93 1.06 (IF=IF0e-b(D-0.5)) determined by diameter humidity. Under weak 0.01), upward significantly influences which similar with space. Droplets μm disperse upwards while most fall down ground due larger gravity force. Interestingly, deposition ten times higher at Uref than m/s. Thus, a high does not necessarily lead smaller risk if locating downwind region infected person, outdoors suggested only keep greater each other also stand considerable angles prevailing direction.

Inhalation of expiratory droplets in aircraft cabins.
UNLABELLED Airliner cabins have high occupant density and long exposure time, so the risk of airborne infection transmission could be high if one or more passengers are infected with an airborne infectious disease. The droplets exhaled by an infected passenger may contain infectious agents. This study developed a method to predict the amount of expiratory droplets inhaled by the passengers in a...
متن کاملDrivers of airborne human-to-human pathogen transmission.
Airborne pathogens - either transmitted via aerosol or droplets - include a wide variety of highly infectious and dangerous microbes such as variola virus, measles virus, influenza A viruses, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Bordetella pertussis. Emerging zoonotic pathogens, for example, MERS coronavirus, avian influenza viruses, Coxiella, and Francisella, would have pa...
متن کاملMolecular dynamics simulations of the evaporation of particle-laden droplets.
We use molecular dynamics simulations to study the evaporation of particle-laden droplets on a heated surface. The droplets are composed of a Lennard-Jones fluid containing rigid particles, which are spherical sections of an atomic lattice, and heating is controlled through the temperature of an atomistic substrate. We observe that sufficiently large (but still nanosized) particle-laden drops e...

Evaporation of Sessile Droplets Laden with Particles and Insoluble Surfactants.
We consider the flow dynamics of a thin evaporating droplet in the presence of an insoluble surfactant and noninteracting particles in the bulk. On the basis of lubrication theory, we derive a set of evolution equations for the film height, the interfacial surfactant, and bulk particle concentrations, taking into account the dependence of liquid viscosity on the local particle concentration. An...
